Privacy Policy
Data we process
Nearlo processes the account identity you choose to connect, such as the account ID, name, email, and profile photo from Google. If you choose “Connect Facebook”, Nearlo receives proof of Facebook identity and the minimum public profile data Meta provides. Nearlo does not request access to your Facebook posts, groups, friend list, or messages.
When you use the marketplace features, Nearlo also processes listings, item photos, the pickup location rounded for public display, device location if you grant permission, favourites, chats, reports, notifications, and privacy settings.
Why we use it
- to run accounts, listings, location search, chat, notifications, and moderation;
- to prevent abuse and keep the service secure;
- to show seller status accurately for those who qualify;
- to meet legal obligations and data deletion requests.
Service providers
Nearlo uses Firebase for authentication and app data storage, Cloudflare for the API and media, and Meta only for linking a Facebook account. Those providers process data according to their own function and policies.
Storage and security
The Meta App Secret is never stored in the app. Facebook access tokens are not stored in Nearlo's database. Backend access requires a verified Firebase token, and private data is restricted to the account owner and the authorised backend services.
Your choices
You can unlink Facebook, change the visibility of your profile data, decline optional device permissions, or delete your account and its data from the Profile menu in the app. Full instructions are on the Data Deletion page.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated. Using the service after an update means the latest policy shown on this page applies.
